Regina is the Capital of Saskatchewan with a metropolitan area of approximately 241,000 residents. The city offers a high standard of living with an active cultural life (e.g., theatre groups, concerts, the longest continually running symphony orchestra in Canada, museums) and incorporates Wascana Park. Wascana Park is one of North America’s largest urban parks with long bike and running paths. Regina’s multicultural nature is celebrated through its festivals but also through its entertainment venues and dining options. The city is also home to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Academy and Museum. The brand new Mosaic Stadium is home to the Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Roughriders team. The city has attracted major concerts by bands/artists such as the Rolling Stones, AC/DC. Eagles and Paul McCartney.
The University of Regina, with over 17,000 students, is one of Canada’s major comprehensive universities and offers wide variety of programs leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees. Facilitating opportunities and synergies between health researchers and clinicians, the city includes two major hospitals, a large rehabilitation centre as well as a wide variety of outpatient facilities.
