Film Screening of ‘Robot and Frank’

‘Robot and Frank’ is humorous and heartwarming film about a man experiencing dementia who receives a humanoid robot from his son so that he can continue to live independently. The film screening will be followed by a discussion with audience participation on the potential role of technology in improving the quality of life for people with dementia, led by Dr. Thomas Hadjistavropoulos, Research Chair in Aging and Health and Professor of Psychology, University of Regina.

Free Admission. Open to the Public.
Free parking available at all M and Z lots after 5:00 pm. Parking lots 13 & 14 are recommended.


Robot and Frank (2012) is a critically acclaimed Sundance Award-winning film about dementia and technology, starring Frank Langella and Susan Sarandon. In this compelling and humorous sci-fi drama set in the near future, a son purchases a robot butler to support the care of his aging ex-convict father who is experiencing dementia and cognitive decline. However, when his father discovers that the robot
cannot decipher between legal and illegal activities, he begins to use the robot to commit heists together.
